Biography
Yevgeny Volkov was born in 1924 and served as a tankman during World War II. Tank crews were among the most vulnerable soldiers in combat, requiring exceptional courage and technical skill to operate these powerful but dangerous machines.
He died in 1945, near the end of the war, and was laid to rest at Vsehsvyatskoe Cemetery. His service as a tankman exemplifies the specialized roles that Soviet soldiers undertook in their fight against Nazi Germany.
