Biography

Rabbi Yitzchok Hutner (1906–1980) was the rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Rabbi Chaim Berlin, where his penetrating discourses combined deep Talmudic analysis with reflections on Jewish philosophy. Students came from across the world to hear his style of mussar, which embraced both intellectual rigor and spiritual warmth.

He encouraged disciples to live fully committed Jewish lives, shaping many who became leaders in communities far beyond Jerusalem; his burial on the Mount of Olives commemorates his towering scholarship and humble leadership.
