Biography
Yitzhak Frenkel was one of the first artists to bring the language of the Parisian avant-garde to the Land of Israel, melding European modernism with Middle Eastern light and color.
He taught generations of Israeli painters in his studios and through workshops in Safed, helping to lay the foundations of the nation's artistic identity.
