Zebulon Pike

Biography

Zebulon Pike, born in 1779, explored the western frontier and recorded the landscape that would later bear his name while serving with courage as an Army officer on expeditions that helped define the young nation's southwestern claims.

He fell leading troops at the Battle of York in 1813 and was honored with burial in the Military Cemetery, where visitors remember the officer and explorer whose sacrifices are still reflected in American maps and memory.
