Biography

Renowned among Jerusalem’s pious circles, Rabbi Zundel Salant (1786–1866) was admired for his asceticism, his deep commitment to prayer, and his efforts to bring people closer to Torah life. His humility and earnestness drew many to seek his counsel, and he left a legacy of spiritual awakening that endured beyond his lifetime.

He died in 1866 and was buried on the Mount of Olives Jewish Cemetery, where visitors continue to honor his example of fervent devotion and loving generosity.
