1891–1960 (age 69)
Biography
Zygmunt Podhorski was a military officer who carried the lessons of Poland's turbulent twentieth century with both courage and humility. Whether leading troops or working with the Allied high command, he insisted that duty always be tempered with compassion, and he supported displaced families as they sought new homes in Britain.
In Brompton Cemetery he rests among other compatriots, his memory preserved through memoirs and the stories of veterans who cherished his steadiness. General Podhorski's steady leadership inspired generations of exiled soldiers.
