Biography

Ekaterina Mikhailovna Volkonskaя (1777–1834) served as a lady-in-waiting at the Russian imperial court, a position of considerable prestige and responsibility. Her role placed her in close proximity to the imperial family and the highest circles of Russian aristocratic society during the reigns of Paul I and Alexander I.

As a court lady, Volkonskaя was part of the refined cultural milieu of St. Petersburg, where she would have been exposed to the finest artistic and intellectual developments of her time. Her service at court reflected both her family's prominence and her own personal qualities. She was buried in the Lazarev Cemetery, where many distinguished members of Russian society found their final rest.
