Biography
Варлаам (Никольский) (1872-1937) was a Russian Orthodox monk and spiritual figure who devoted his life to faith and service. He lived through the revolutionary transformation of Russia, maintaining his religious commitments despite the increasingly hostile Soviet environment toward the Church.
Варлаам was executed at the Butovo firing range in 1937 as part of Stalin's systematic persecution of the Russian Orthodox clergy. His death exemplifies the tragic fate of countless religious figures who refused to abandon their faith during the Great Purge.
