Biography

Albert Bassompierre-Sewrin (1818–1877) lived through much of the nineteenth century, a period of remarkable transformation in French society, industry, and culture. His life encompassed the reign of Louis-Philippe, the Second Republic, and the Second Empire, witnessing the modernization of France.

He was interred in Père Lachaise Cemetery, the prestigious burial ground that served as the final resting place for many distinguished members of Parisian society and French cultural life.
