Biography
Alexander Emanuel Agassiz (1835–1910) combined his love of natural history with a rigorous engineering mind, advancing the study of marine life through careful research and leading the Museum of Comparative Zoology with a steady hand.
He balanced that intellectual curiosity with practical leadership in mining enterprises, always mindful of the welfare of the men whose toil made those ventures possible, and Forest Hills Cemetery now receives him among its maples as a place to reflect on a life devoted to both science and service.
