Biography

Henry Morton Dexter devoted his ministry to the Congregational churches of Massachusetts, offering pastoral care and thoughtful sermons while encouraging lay participation in social causes. He was equally at home in the study of early New England, publishing articles and monographs that brought clarity to the stories of the Pilgrims and other settlers.

His diligent research, genealogical work, and fervent advocacy for preserving historic memorials kept New England's origins before the public and inspired generations of scholars; he is remembered in Forest Hills Cemetery among those whose faith and scholarship strengthened the region.
