Biography
Alexander Hay (1806–1882) served as Mayor of Pittsburgh from 1842 to 1845, a period of growth and development for the young city. His leadership during these formative years helped shape Pittsburgh's trajectory as an important urban center.
Hay's tenure as mayor reflected his commitment to civic improvement and public service. He remained a respected figure in Pittsburgh society throughout his long life, and was interred in Allegheny Cemetery.
