Biography

Alexander Oswald Brodie, born in 1849, dedicated his career to service on the western frontier, where his leadership in the Indian Wars and the Spanish-American conflict prepared him for the challenges of territorial governance. He understood that security and infrastructure were both vital to America’s growth.

As Governor of the Arizona Territory he championed irrigation, roads, and education, establishing a foundation upon which the Southwest could flourish, and he is remembered today among the honored dead at Arlington National Cemetery.
