Alexander Ramsey

Biography

Alexander Ramsey, Minnesota's first territorial governor and later a U.S. senator, led the region through its formative years, working on internal improvements and helping shepherd the state into the Union.

His long career in public service included roles as secretary of war and national statesman, and he rests in Oakland Cemetery among other civic pioneers.
