Biography
Alfred Eliab Buck (1832–1902) devoted himself to the Union cause as an officer during the Civil War and afterward brought those same steady principles to national leadership, representing Alabama in the U.S. House of Representatives during the challenging years of Reconstruction.
He earned respect for his integrity and commitment to healing the nation, and in retirement he remained attentive to the needs of veterans and the communities he served, eventually finding eternal rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
