Biography

Ambrose Maréchal (1764-1828) was a French-born Catholic Archbishop who served as a spiritual leader in the United States during the early nineteenth century. His tenure as Archbishop of Baltimore represented the growth and development of the Catholic Church in America during the post-Revolutionary period.

Maréchal's ecclesiastical career was marked by dedication to his faith and his flock during a formative period in American Catholic history. He was interred in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, honoring his significant contributions to the American Church.
