Biography
Aquila Wiley, born in 1835, answered the call to serve during the Civil War and carried the lessons of those years into a lifetime of civic engagement. As a leader in the Ohio regiments, he inspired confidence with his calm demeanor and unwavering commitment to his comrades.
After the war he translated that same sense of duty to public office, representing Ohio in Congress and ensuring that veterans, farmers, and merchants had their voices heard; he now rests at Wooster Cemetery, his legacy a reminder of the promise that service carries beyond the battlefield.
