August Imgard (1828-1904) was a German-born immigrant whose inventive spirit and love of celebration led him to decorate the first recorded Christmas tree in Wooster, sharing a joyful tradition with the entire town.
His fondness for family, music, and community gatherings endured for decades, and he now rests among the community he helped cheer in Wooster Cemetery.
