Biography

Benedict Joseph Flaget (1763–1850) served as the first Bishop of Bardstown, guiding the early Catholic community in Kentucky through decades of growth and fierce devotion. He oversaw the construction of the Cathedral of the Assumption and championed education, establishing schools that nurtured young minds in both faith and learning.
