Biography

Benjamin F. Potts served with distinction as a Union officer in the Civil War, bringing disciplined leadership to his brigade and earning the respect of the soldiers he commanded.

In the years that followed he brought that same steady hand to civic life as governor of the Montana Territory, working to settle the West with fairness, and now lies at Forestvale Cemetery with the gratitude of a region shaped by his service.
