Biography

Black Hawk was born in 1767 and passed away in 1838 at the age of 71, leaving behind a legacy as a Native American leader of profound historical significance. He lived during a period of tremendous upheaval for indigenous peoples, witnessing the westward expansion of the United States and the displacement of Native American communities from their ancestral lands.

As a respected leader among his people, Black Hawk worked to defend his nation's interests during a time of unprecedented pressure and change.
