Biography
Bob Dole, a World War II veteran wounded in combat, represented Kansas for decades in the U.S. Senate, where he shepherded major legislation through the Finance and Agriculture committees, served as Republican leader, and earned respect for his tenacity and commitment to bipartisanship.
After 1996's presidential campaign he continued to champion veterans, chaired the World War II Memorial effort, and supported charitable causes before being laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
