Boris Andreyevich Pilnyak (1894–1938) was a prominent Soviet writer known for his experimental literary style and his novels depicting Soviet life during the revolutionary and early Soviet periods. His works were notable for their innovative narrative techniques and complex portrayal of Soviet society.
Pilnyak fell victim to Stalin's Great Purge and was executed at the Kommunarka shooting ground in 1938. His death marked the loss of one of Soviet literature's most distinctive and daring voices during an era when artistic independence was increasingly suppressed.
