Biography
Borys Mykolaiovych Martos was a leading figure in the Ukrainian independence movement, serving briefly as prime minister of the Ukrainian People's Republic in 1919 and helping to establish cooperative banking to support farmers and artisans. His early work combined economics with devotion to democratic principles.
After emigrating to the United States he continued to steward Ukrainian culture, writing, advising youth, and guiding diaspora organizations so the dream of a free Ukraine would not fade.
