Biography

Bryan M. Thomas, born in 1836, served as a Confederate officer in Georgia, seeing action in numerous campaigns and later supervising reconstruction-era forces while drawing on his engineering background to organize defenses and lines of communication.

After the war he turned his attention to education and county affairs, helping to rebuild civic institutions and remaining a steady presence in the community until he was laid to rest at West Hill Cemetery.
