Caleb Bradham

1867–1934 (age 67)

Pharmacist and businessman

Biography

Caleb Bradham began his career as a pharmacist in New Bern, North Carolina, and crafted an effervescent beverage initially called Brad's Drink before renaming it Pepsi-Cola in 1898 and turning it into a regional favorite.

Though the economic storms of the 1920s and 1930s forced him to sell the rights to his creation, he remained proud of the product and the civic causes he supported, and guests now visit Cedar Grove Cemetery for quiet reflection.
