Carl Ben Eielson, born in 1897, became one of America's most celebrated aviators by daring to fly where few had gone before. His skillful work delivering mail, conducting rescue missions, and exploring remote Arctic routes transformed the possibilities of flight and earned admiration across the nation.

Eielson's service also inspired new generations of flyers, for he never tired of advocating safety, teamwork, and perseverance in the face of the unforgiving polar elements. After his tragic death in 1929 he was laid to rest in Saint Johns Cemetery, where his legacy still fuels the dreams of daring pilots.
