Biography
Carleton Hunt was born in 1836 and spent much of his life in the rich cultural milieu of New Orleans, where he participated in the civic and social currents of the city during the late nineteenth century. He was regarded as a thoughtful advocate for his neighborhood, mindful of the ways that history and progress intersected in the vibrant Crescent City.
Those who knew him appreciated his steady counsel and the dignity with which he met both success and hardship, and he now rests in Saint Louis Cemetery No. 2, remembered as a dedicated steward of New Orleans' shared heritage.
