Chance M. Vought (1890-1930) founded the Vought Aircraft Company and designed some of the earliest fighter planes for the U.S. Navy, demonstrating an engineer's knack for combining speed with structural strength.

His entrepreneurial spirit fueled innovations that would shape naval aviation for decades, and Woodlawn Cemetery now marks his place among pioneers of flight.
