Charles Deane

Biography

Charles Deane was a member of the Boston community who witnessed the emergence of American intellectual and cultural life in the nineteenth century. His days were spent within circles where literature and civic duty were highly valued.

Mount Auburn Cemetery now keeps his memory, and within its tranquil landscape his thoughtful contributions to Boston’s civic and intellectual life continue to be honored.
