Biography

Charles J. Hughes Jr. brought his legal acumen to Colorado, becoming a respected attorney before representing the state in the U.S. Senate, where he worked to balance the interests of labor and business while serving on committees that shaped national tariffs.

Those who knew him recall a man of steady temper and generous counsel, whose sudden passing in 1911 was mourned by the people of Colorado and who now lies in Fairmount Cemetery.
