Charles K. Harris (1865-1930) earned a place among Tin Pan Alley pioneers with the publication of "After the Ball," a sentimental ballad that sold millions of copies and set the tone for popular songwriting around the turn of the century.

He continued to write and publish songs, advocating for composers' rights while establishing a publishing firm, leaving his mark on America's musical landscape and culminating with his burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
