Charles S. Hastings (1848–1932) witnessed the aftermath of the Civil War and the rapid changes of the Gilded Age in the United States.

His exact vocation may be unknown today, yet his gentle presence at Cedar Hill Cemetery continues to speak to the generations who walk among the monuments there.
