Charles Syphax

Biography

Charles Syphax was born in 1791 and, having gained his freedom, became a determined landowner and businessman who invested in farms and real estate near Washington, D.C., laying a foundation for his family’s future.

He used his success to support education and opportunity for his neighbors, sharing resources and advocating for self-reliance, and in 1869 he passed on a legacy of perseverance to the generations that followed.
