Biography

Charles W. Christmas was among the first settlers to call the Upper Midwest home, participating in the territorial councils and local enterprises that transformed wilderness into township. His steady hand helped to guide early civic improvements, from schools to roadways, that made daily life more secure for neighbors.

He continued to advocate for cooperation between settlers and indigenous families, and when he passed in 1884 he was laid to rest at Minneapolis Pioneers and Soldiers Memorial Cemetery, where his contributions to Minnesota's foundation are still recalled.
