Biography
Crystal Eastman (1881-1928) devoted her legal mind and fierce compassion to the cause of women's rights, helping to draft what became a template for the Equal Rights Amendment, co-founding the ACLU, and writing forcefully for labor reform.
Her leadership in the suffrage movement, her steadfast opposition to war, and her lifelong advocacy for civil liberties continue to inspire generations who visit her grave at Woodlawn Cemetery.
