Curtis Burton Munson approached his assignments for the Department of State with an unshakable sense of fairness, traveling the country and documenting the lives of Japanese Americans at a moment when their loyalty was under question. His 1940 report later known as the Munson Report urged leaders to see past prejudice and recognize the citizenship and decency of the communities he had studied.
He continued to write, travel, and stand as a quiet advocate for humanitarian principles, leaving behind a legacy of sober inquiry and courage that comforted generations seeking justice before being laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery in Chicago.
