Biography

Damian (1873–1937) was a presbyter whose spiritual ministry served his community during a period of profound religious persecution in the Soviet Union. As a member of the Orthodox clergy, he maintained his faith and pastoral duties despite increasing state hostility toward religious institutions.

Damian was executed at Sandarmokh in 1937, becoming one of thousands of clergy members who perished during Stalin's campaign against organized religion. His death represented the loss of a dedicated spiritual leader during the Great Purge.
