Biography

Daniel Ilsley studied law and entered service in Massachusetts, joining the state's constitutional convention and later serving his neighbors in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1805 to 1807 as a Federalist. He worked to secure funding for roads and supported deliberations that strengthened the young judiciary.

He returned to the Eastern Cemetery area to continue his legal practice, contribute to agricultural improvement, and offer counsel to the next generation of civic leaders before his death in 1813.
