David E. Buckingham

Biography

David E. Buckingham was born in 1840 and came of age as the nation stood on the brink of division. Raised with a strong sense of responsibility, he readily embraced the chance to contribute to the survival of the republic.

While little is recorded of the specifics of his service, his interment in Arlington National Cemetery affirms the respect accorded to him for his participation in the great struggles of his time. He remained a symbol of steadiness to those who knew him and to the generations who followed.
