Biography

David M. Key answered his country’s call throughout his life, serving Tennessee in the U.S. Senate and then as Postmaster General under President Rutherford B. Hayes, where he oversaw reforms that strengthened the national postal system.

He later accepted a seat on the federal bench, seeking to bridge divides with fairness and to reinforce the principles of justice, leaving a legacy commemorated by those who walk through Forest Hills Cemetery.
