Delbert Black made history as the first Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, setting the tone for enlisted leadership and ensuring sailors had a trusted advocate at the highest levels.

His insistence on professionalism and mentorship transformed the Navy’s enlisted ranks, and his contributions are memorialized at Arlington National Cemetery.
