Dezső Czigány
1883–1937 (age 54)
Biography
Dezső Czigány emerged as a courageous voice among the Nyolcak, melding Parisian modernist currents with a distinctly Hungarian sensibility to render still lifes, figures, and interiors suffused with muted radiance.
He lived a contemplative life devoted to painting, mentoring younger artists and leaving behind a body of work that continues to resonate in Budapest’s cultural memory and at that place of rest in Farkasréti Cemetery.
