Biography

Edgar Mitchell, a naval aviator turned NASA astronaut, served as the lunar module pilot on Apollo 14 and became the sixth human to walk on the Moon, helping refine guidance techniques and returning with samples that deepened humanity's understanding of the lunar environment.

After NASA, he founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences, advocated for scientific curiosity, and encouraged dialogue between science and the arts while remaining devoted to the many communities he touched; he now rests at Arlington National Cemetery.
