Edward A. Crowninshield (1817–1859) was a merchant whose commercial activities contributed to Boston's economic vitality during the mid-nineteenth century. His career reflected the mercantile traditions that had long characterized New England commerce and trade.

Crowninshield's life of forty-two years was spent in pursuit of commercial enterprise during a period of American economic expansion.
