Biography

Edward Copleston (1776–1849) was a distinguished Anglican bishop and scholar who presided over Llandaff Cathedral with a deep concern for the spiritual life of Wales. Prior to his episcopacy he was known for his tenure as President of Oriel College, Oxford, where he championed the study of theology and moral philosophy.

His thoughtful sermons and administrative care strengthened the cathedral community, and his writings on religious education left a legacy of reasoned faith that continued to influence the Church in Wales.
