Biography
Edward Cornes was a missionary who dedicated his life to religious and educational work in Japan during the early Meiji period. He was part of the wave of Western missionaries who came to Japan following the country's opening to foreign contact.
Cornes's commitment to his missionary calling in Yokohama contributed to the cultural and spiritual exchange between East and West during this transformative era. His burial in Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery reflects his deep connection to the community he served.
