Edward Henry Eldredge was born in 1816 and lived through the antebellum and Civil War periods, passing away in 1865 during the final year of the nation's greatest conflict. His life encompassed nearly five decades of American history during a time of tremendous change and challenge.

Eldredge was interred at Mount Auburn Cemetery, one of America's most respected burial grounds, reflecting the esteem in which he was held.
