Biography

Edward Leighton was a ship captain who navigated the maritime routes during a transformative period in Australian colonial history. His seafaring career took him across vast oceanic distances, contributing to the vital connections between distant ports and communities.

Leighton's life at sea reflected the adventurous spirit of nineteenth-century maritime trade. He was remembered as a skilled navigator and dedicated seaman, and was interred in Cossack Cemetery, a fitting resting place for one whose life was bound to the sea.
