Biography

Sakutarō Muramats was a shopkeeper who served the Cossack community, bringing commerce and trade to the growing settlement. As a merchant, he played an important role in the daily economic life of the region during the late nineteenth century.

Muramats's presence in Cossack reflects the diverse populations that built colonial Australia. His contributions to local commerce were valued by the community he served, and he was laid to rest in Cossack Cemetery.
